ANDY NIELSEN WINS
Eastside Leader Ready to Make Councillor Full-Time Job
Indianapolis, IN— In a race that has captivated Indianapolis and contributed to a 45% increase in Marion County voter turnout, nonprofit leader and anti-poverty advocate Andy Nielsen has won the 14th District Indianapolis County Council Race (with 92% of the results in as of 9:35pm, 57.38%-42.62%).
“I am honored to win the support of my fellow Eastsiders,” Nielsen stated. “Our campaign has always been about putting the Eastside and the people who live here first, and I’m ready to make that my full-time job.”
Nielsen received a number of endorsements including Eastside leaders such as Sue Beecher, Leslie Schulte, and Samantha Douglass. Andy campaigned without relying on special interest dollars, supported exclusively by small businesses and individuals.
Nielsen appeared on the ballot with incumbent Councillor David Ray in the Democratic primary for the newly drawn 14th District which comprises the Eastside neighborhoods of Irvington, Warren Park, Community Heights, Eastgate, and parts of the Far Eastside.
“I am ready to hit the ground running to win in November to give the Eastside a voice,” said Nielsen. “The Eastside deserves nothing less than 100%.”
